Effectiveness of oral corticosteroids (prednisolone) in sensorineural hearing loss post COVID-19

Abstract Background Numerous infections can result in neurological symptoms, including anosmia, facial paralysis, and abrupt sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL). During the earlier SARS pandemic, coronaviruses were linked to a of smell taste due brain damage. Purpose To clinically detect corticosteroid treatment effectiveness SSNHL post-COVID-19 infection factors that affect prognosis for these patients better diagnosis management. Subjects method included 20 subjects diagnosed by PCR as COVID-19 virus positive, complaining sudden onset post viral different durations. All had basic audiological evaluation done pre-treatment repeated after 1 week, 2 weeks, month with methylprednisolone 21-acetate tablets. Results Onset post-COVID ranged from 3 months. As regards improvement recognized course, thirteen (65%) all twenty showed complete at starting treatment, seven (35%) no even month. Conclusion has been widely context date. Early therapy could help recovery hearing, especially if beginning was early first weeks.
